BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia said the next general election is not necessarily to be held under caretaker government. Whatever the name is, the election should be held under neutral government.
She made the comments at a meeting with the newly elected Brahmanbaria Bar Association members at her Gulshan office on Saturday.
Khaleda said there cannot be any fair election under Awami League government. But it is not necessary that the next general election should be held under caretaker government. Only under a neutral government the people can exercise their voting rights.
Accusing that AL wants to establish one-party rule by not holding any election, she said, “They already know that they will not be able to form government if the election is held under a non-partisan, neutral government.
Observing that the ruling illegal government would not be able to stay in power much longer with the help of Police and RAB, Khaleda warned that there will be no good out of it.
She said, “AL is trying to destroy BNP and likeminded parties just to be in power for a long time. But they don’t know that BNP’s position is in the hearts of the people which cannot be easily erased. BNP will sustain as long as people want them to be.”
The BNP chairperson accused AL for child and woman abuse and held them responsible for the change attitude of the people of the country.
She also emphasizes to build relationships among all other political parties and their leaders.
Among others, BNP standing committee member Moudud Ahmed, BNP chairperson’s advisor Khandaker Mahbub Hossain, AJ Mohammad Ali, Brahmonbaria Bar president Abdul Manna, secretary Tariqul Islam, religious affairs secretary and Dhaka Bar president advocate Masud Ahmed Talukder, and mass education secretary Advocate Sanaullah Mia were present at the meeting.
