Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Dr Mizanur Rahman on Tuesday demanded trial of the suspended policemen under the criminal law for their negligence of duty in connection with Rajon murder.
“Not only promises, I want that the government will set an example by ensuring immediate punishment of Rajon killers. It is necessary to try the suspended cops under the criminal law for their negligence of duty over the murder,” he said.
The NHRC chairman came up with the remarks while talking to reporters after visiting Rajon’s house at Badeali village in the morning.
He also urged the government to take prompt action in bringing back Rajon murder accused Kamrul to home.
Mizanur Rahman also urged the government to take necessary steps over the brutal killings across the country.
Meanwhile, during a visit to the Sylhet jail the NHRC chairman said that the Sylhet jail is crammed with 2407 prisoners where it has capacity of 1200 prisoners which is a violation of human rights. “The state should take necessary steps in this regard”, he said.
