School girl ‘commits suicide’ in Sylhet

A school girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself with the ceiling of a room at Monirgati village in Chatok upazila of Sylhet on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Shammi Begum, 14, a class VIII student of Monirgati High School and daughter of Zamshed Hasan of the village.

Family members of the deceased said she hanged herself by using her scarf with the ceiling of her room at noon after returning from her school on Monday.

Chairman of South Khurma Union Parishad Abdul Mobassir confirmed the incident.
