Habiganj college student stabbed dead by rivals

A student of Shachindra Degree College in Baniachang upazila was hacked to death by his rivals on the campus on Saturday afternoon following an altercation with another student.
Deceased Sumon Mia, 18,  was a first year HSC student of the college. He was the son of Mokhlesur Rahman, a resident of Bithangal Islampur village of the upazila.
College sources said Sumon had an altercation with second year student Shihab Alam in the morning over a trifling matter. Later, college principal Farasuddin settled the issue.
But, at about 12:30pm, college students split into two factions and over the issue and locked in a clash. At one stage, someone of his rival group stabbed Sumon in his abdomen, leaving him critically injured.
Sumon was rushed to Habiganj Sadar Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
