SAFF U-16: Bangladesh storm final beating Afghanistan 1-0

36Sylhet Correspondent.Bangladesh football team reached the final of the six-nation SAFF U-16 Championship eliminating Afghanistan by a solitary goal in the semifinal at the Sylhet Stadium on Sunday. Saad Uddin scored the match winner for Bangladesh in the 56th minute of the match. The first half of the semifinal was locked in 0-0.  Visiting Afghanistan exerted heavy pressure on hosts Bangladesh in the middle of the second half to equalise the margin, but Bangladesh defended their castle nicely.
Bangladesh will play the final against the winner of the day’s second semifinal — either Nepal or defending champions India — on August 18 at the same venue.Hosts Bangladesh confirmed the semifinal berth of the 11-day South Asian soccer meet from group A eliminating all-losers Sri Lanka by 4-0 goals in their first match on August 11 and later they defeated defending champions India by 2-1 goals in the last group match to be the group champion at the same venue on August 13. India also assured the semifinal berth from the same group beating Sri Lanka by 5-0 goals in the tournament opener on August 9.Nepal sealed their semifinal berth as Group B champion while Afghanistan from same group eliminating all losers Maldives by 5-0 and 4-2 goals respectively on August 10 and 12 at the same venue.
Rajon murder: charge sheet against 13 submitted
Sylhet Correspondent.The charge sheet of the sensational murder case of Rajon has been submitted against 13 persons including Kamrul Islam as the prime accused to the court of Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate ADC Rahmatullah of Sylhet Metropolitan Police confirmed the submission of the charge sheet.  He said: “The charge sheet was submitted to the court of Metropolitan Magistrate of Shahedul Karim on Sunday afternoon.”On July 8, Sheikh Samiul Alam Rajon was beaten to death in Sylhet’s Kumargaon by some men who falsely accused the teen of stealing a van. The video of the brutal beating soon spread on social media platforms, triggering massive outrage among the public.Later, Rajon’s father filed a case in this connection and the police have arrested 13 accused so far.
