SUST teachers stage sit-in for VC’s removal

A faction of pro-Awami League teachers of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust) staged a sit-in programme on the campus on Tuesday, reiterating their demand for removal of vice chancellor Prof Dr Md Aminul Haque Bhuyan.
The protesters under the banner of “Mahan Muktijuddher Chetonai Udbuddho Shikhok Brindo” started the programme in front of administrative building of the university at 11:00am.
Mentionable, the teachers started demonstration demanding resignation of the VC on April 13 this year.
On April 20, a total of 35 teachers resigned from 37 administrative posts and announced a list of agenda in this regard.
On April 23, the VC called an emergency syndicate meeting after a two-month leave.
On June 22, VC returned to take office after passing leave, but, teachers confined him in the office and started sit-in programme locking the main entrance of VC office and the programme continued till July 12.
