SUST student’s body found tied to window in Sylhet house

31Sylhet-MapPolice have recovered the body of a Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) student from a house in Sylhet where he stayed with his classmates.

Shahriar Majumder, an student of architecture who hailed from Chittagong’s Pahartali, was an activist of the Ganajagaran Mancha, a platform lobbying for capital punishment of war criminals.

Sylhet Kotwali police OC Sohel Ahmed told journalists the body was recovered around 10:30pm on Thursday from the house on Road 4 of the Surma Residential Area, in Akhalia.

“His classmates left him in the room and went out in the afternoon. They returned around 9pm and knocked on the door but Shahriar did not respond.
They called police, who entered the room to find the body tied to the window with a belt.”

The officer, however, could not confirm the cause of the death and said they were waiting for the autopsy report from the Osmani Medical College Hospital.
