SUST teachers observing work abstention

9A faction of pro-Awami League teachers of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) are observing work abstention demanding immediate removal of its Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor Aminul Haque Bhuyan.
They also postponed their agitation programme for Monday for the death of a student of the university.
The teachers, under the banner of “Mohan Muktijuddher Chetonay Udbuddho Shikkhakgon”, began their agitation programme around 9am and it will continue till 5pm.
Convener of the teacher’s panel Professor Syed Shamsul Alam said that they postponed their programme because of the death of a student of Architecture Department.
“We would bring out mourn procession at noon recalling the student”, Shamsul Alam said.
The dead body of Shahriar Mazumdar, a 5th year student of Architecture Department of the university, was recovered from his residence at Surma residential area at Akhalia of the district town on Thursday night.
On August 30, the teachers, who are on anti-VC movement, came under attack by SUST unit BCL men when they came to observe their pre-scheduled sit-in programme.
At least eight teachers were injured following the attack. Two female teachers and six journalists were also assaulted at that time.
