Voter list updating begins in Sylhet City

The Election Commission on Wednesday started the three-phase countrywide updating of the voter list with 27 Wards of Sylhet City Corporation in the Third phase.
Sylhet District election officer Azijul Islam told That, “Data collectors are going door to door to gather primary information. We have recruited and trained 40 supervisors and 183 data collectors.”
Data collectors started distributing voter registration forms in SCC on Wednesday morning.
They will collect the completed forms and help voters with the registration process.
Bangladeshi citizens who will turn 18 on or before January 1, 2015 and the eligible Bangladeshis who missed the current list will be enrolled as voters.
The data of possible voters will be collected from September 1 to 10, while photographs and fingerprints will be taken in voter registration centres from September 18 to November 15. Earlier in 2012, the commission updated the country’s voter list which was published in 2013 ahead of the 10th parliamentary elections.
