One held over murder in Sylhet

Police arrested a man from Lamakazi area in Bishwanath upazila of Sylhet district on Monday on charge of murder, arson attack and subversive activities. The arrestee was identified as Shahin Ahmad, 41, acting president of Bishwanath upazila Sramik Kalyan Federation and son of late Nurul Islam of Satpur village of the upazila. Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Bishwanath Police Station said, tipped off a team of police conducted a drive in the area and arrested Shahin in the afternoon. The arrestee was wanted in eight cases including for murder, arson attack and subversive activities, the OC added.
