In a message, the President urged all to expedite the national development being imbued with the spirit of sacrifice of Eid-ul-Azha and the country’s tradition of secularism in their personal and social life.
Terming Bangladesh a unique example of secularism in the world arena, the President said people from all religions here perform their own rituals peacefully since time immortal.
President Hamid urged all to be vigilant so that no one can gain evil benefit by using religion.
He hoped that Eid-ul-Azha would bring welfare for all.
In a separate message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina called upon the countrymen to build a happy and prosperous Bangladesh free from discrimination by participating in people-welfare based activities as well as realizing the spirit of Eid-ul-Azha, radiant with the glow of sacrifice.
She said the unique instance set by Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) by sacrificing his dearest thing for the satisfaction of Allah will be imitated and followed forever.
“Through the festival, the capable Muslims ensure equality for all and practice compassion by distributing meat of their sacrificial animals among relatives and neighbours,” she added.
