On the second day of Eid-ul-Azha, animals were sacrificed in different areas of the city as per the Islamic rule that one can sacrifice animal on Jilhaj 10, 11, 12.
Shipon Ahmed, a resident of Malibagh, said he had to sacrifice two animals – one for his mother, another for him. “It becomes difficult to handle the sacrifice of two animals in a day, so I am sacrificing on two consecutive days.”
Another person who sacrificed animals today was Jewel Hazari of Baridhara. He said he had to sacrifice two animals, one in his village in Dulhazra, Cox’s Bazar and another in Dhaka where he was involved in business.
Explaining the custom, Pesh Imam of Matartek Sarkar Para Moulana Nure Alam Siddiqui said that according to Islamic rule one could sacrifice animals on any of the three days starting from the day of Eid. “Allah has given this option as people could be indisposed on one particular day. So human beings are given a choice to make the sacrifice,” he said.
