16 Jamaat-Shibir men held in Habiganj

Habigonj Police in separate drives arrested 16 leaders and activists of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and its student body Islami Chhatra Shibir from different parts of the district early Monday.
Additional police super Md Shahidul Islam said, a team led by him, conducted the drives in Bahubal, Lakhai, Nabiganj and Shayestaganj upazilas and arrested six leaders and activists.
The detained men are–Nabiganj upazila unit Jamaat ameer Maulana Ashraf Ali, 40, Lakhai upazila unit Jamaat secretary Nurul Amin, 42, Sayestaganj upazila unit Jamaat secretary Yeasin Khan, 32, Sayestaganj upazila unit Shibir president Hossain Ahmed, 22, its secretary Nizam Uddin, 18, and Shibir activit Haque Kayes, 27.
Police also recovered five cocktails, crude bomb-making materials, some anti-government leaflets, jihadi books, one motorcycle and six mobile phone sets from their possessions.
Another police team raided at ‘Kashful’ hotel in Sayestaganj municipality area around 3am and detained 10 Jamaat and Shibir men.
