Foundation training workshop on journalism held: Shofikur urges journalists to make objective reporting

Foundation trainingNational Press Club President Shofikur Rahman Friday called upon journalists to depict objective information in their reports in the newspapers.
He said this while speaking as chief guest at the concluding function of a Foundation training workshop on journalism at the seminar room of the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) here.
PIB director general Shah Alamgir chaired the function, also addressed, by  Dhaka Journalist Union President Altaf Mahmud, Head of Output 71 Television Shakil Ahmed also spoke.
Shofikur Rahman said, “What is going on in the country in the name of movement can’t be described, in any way, in any definition of movement. Those who have been indulging in torching public and private properties, killing people by hurling petrol bombs and uprooting rail tracks can’t be termed as the friends of people.”
He said, “People are now united to protect independence of the country earned through the great Liberation War. The daydream of those who want to going to power resorting to terrorism, bombing and killing people will never come into a reality.”
Calling upon journalists to pursue objective journalism for the greater interest of the country, He said a vested quarter has been torching public and private properties and blasting petrol bombs to thwart the development process initiated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and they should be resisted together.
A total of 25 journalists of Bangladesh had been imparted with basic training in journalism at the PIB organised workshop that started on October 14.
