Mohashtami, the third day of the five-day Durga Puja festival of Bangalee Hindu community, is being celebrated on Wednesday.
Hindu devotees are set to observed the day with Mohashtami Puja Proshastha and Brotobas in the morning and Sandhi Puja at night.
The main attraction of Mohashtami day Kumari Puja (worshipping of the virgin Goddess) was held at temples and pandals across the country.
In the capital city, hundreds of Hindu devotees offered Anjali (prayers) before the virgin Goddess at the Dhaka Ramakrishna Mission seeking her blessings for peace, prosperity, welfare, fraternity and changing of their lot.

Durga Puja, biggest religious festival of the Hindu community, began with the incarnation (Bodhon) of the Goddess Durga at temples across the country on October 17.
In separate messages, President Md Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and leader of the opposition Begum Raushan Ershad conveyed greetings to the members of the country’s Hindu community marking the festival.
Security has been beefed up in the Puja pandals throughout the country including the capital with the deployment of additional squads of Ansars, police, RAB and other law enforcers for peaceful celebration of the festival.
