Tulip supports ban on Trump from entering Britain

43British Muslim Labour MP Tulip Siddiq, also Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s niece, has said she would like to ban US presidential candidate Donald Trump from going to Britain.
She made statement while talking to Alan Kasujja of BBC World Service’s Newsday radio programme on Wednesday.
Tulip said: “The US presidential candidate’s speech is disgusting.”
As a Muslim herself, the Bangladeshi origin British MP said Trump’s calls to ban Muslims from entering the United States was spreading racial hatred.
In a campaign statement, Trump said a “total and complete” shutdown should remain until the US authorities “can figure out” Muslim attitudes to the US.
Replying to a query if Trump should continue running for presidential election, she said: “Absolutely not. Would you want him representing you? Would the people of America want him representing them in the world, in the world stage.
“Is this the figure we want to put forward? He should absolutely not be running and with all honestly, I will ban him from coming to this country [Britain] if I could.”
Talking about the people supporting Trump’s statement, Tulip said: “There will be a small minority of people that I am of the firm believe, but majority of Muslims and the majority of Americans do not agree with what he is saying.
“Of course in every situation there will be a small number of people who are narrow minded and agree with what he is saying. And he is obviously exploiting that for political purposes.”
She also went on saying that if Trump was banning her from going to his country then she would like to ban him from going to her country.
“We don’t need someone poisonous like Donald Trump in our country spreading hatred. It is a vulnerable time for a lot of the communities, especially Muslim community; who feel alienated and isolated because of what is going on and what is being done in their name and their religion,” she said.
Tulip is the niece of Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. She was elected as a Member of Parliament Hampstead and Kilburn Parliamentary constituency in the United Kingdom General election 2015.
