Ruta demands review of pay scale changes

Rajshahi University Teachers Association (RUTA) demanded that the government review a December 15 gazette an alternative system for public university teachers in the 8th  National pay scale replacing the grade and time scale in a statement on Tuesday signed by Ruta  President Prof Dr. Anando Kumar Shaha and general secretary Prof Rezaul Karim.

The Cabinet approved the new pay scale for public servants on September 7, with raising the monthly basic salary of Grade 1 officials to Tk78,000 (fixed) while the basic pay of Grade 20 employees was fixed at Tk8,250.

University teachers went on a movement protesting abolishment of selection grade, time scale and their honor on the pay scale.

In the statement also said, Financial Minister AMA Muhith and state ministry of education Nurol Islam Nahid in differences meeting with teachers representatives on December 6 assured keeping all feature facilities of the seventh pay scale the selection grade and time scale.
