33.37cr free textbooks to be distributed on Jan 1

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Tuesday said the government will distribute some 33,37,62,760 textbooks among 4,44,16,728 students of pre-primary to secondary level on January 1, 2016

The minister came up with the announcement while talking to reporters at the secretariat.

Nahid said the textbooks have already been sent to the institutions concerned.

Although January 1 is Friday, a public holiday, educational institutions will remain open for distributing the free books among students, he said.

Besides, the Education Ministry will organise ‘Textbook Festival Day’ on January 1 at Government Laboratory School in the capital.

On December 31, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the distribution of the free textbooks.
