Khaleda to be defeated in 2019 polls: Tofail

30Awami League Advisory Council Member and Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed today said BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia will be defeated in 2019 national election as she was defeated in the municipality polls.

“You (Khaleda) are being defeated again and again. You will also be defeated in 2019,” he said.

Tofail was addressing as the chief guest at an Awami League rally at the Dhanmondi Russell Square marking the “Victory Day for Democracy”.

Awami League leaders Suranjit Sengupta, Mohammad Nasim, Sahara Khatun, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Dr Dipu Moni, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Ahmad Hossain, Lieutenant Colonel (retd) Faruk Khan, Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, Architect Yeafesh Osman, Advocate Afjal Hossain, Faridunnahar Laily and Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Annisul Haque, among others, addressed the rally with AL Presidium Member Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim in the chair.

Tofail Ahmed said, “Khaleda Zia had called strike for indefinite period. She has not withdrawn the strike even today”. Tofail said Sheikh Hasina tried hard so that Khaleda Zia would participate in the January 5 polls in 2014. “But Khaleda Zia’s aim and conspiracy were to put the country into autocracy. Today Khaleda Zia is staging a rally to remind the people about her conspiracy. She should rather observe January 5 as a day of regret” she said.
