Shanto set historic milestone in Youth ODI cricket

39Bangladesh Under-19 Cricket Team vice-captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto laid down a historic milestone as he became the highest run-getter in the history of youth ODIs with 1747 runs, including two centuries and 2 fifties.

The middle-order batsman Shanto completed this remarkable job during the Bangladesh vs Scotland Group-A 2nd match of the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, UNB reports.

The 17-year old boy Shanto from Rajshahi, started the match against Scotland with 1634 runs, 61 runs behind Pakistani opener Sami Aslam’s record of 1695 runs.

He finally leapfrogged Sami Aslam in a grand style taking a free hit opportunity for a boundary off Neil Flack.

Shanto’s unbeaten century of 113 off 117 balls including 10 boundaries in the match guided Bangladesh to an emphatic by 114-run victory against the Scottish as well as to confirm the quarterfinal berth.
