Tower Hamlets Council has teamed-up with Bacs Payment Schemes Limited (Bacs) to offer council tax payers a chance to win £10,000.
Tower Hamlets Council is one of eight London boroughs taking part in the campaign, with those also living in Barnet, Brent, City of Westminster, Islington, Kensington and Chelsea, Lewisham, Southwark all eligible for entry into the draw.
To be in with a chance of winning the £10,000 prize, Tower Hamlets residents must register to pay their council tax bill by Direct Debit before 5pm on Friday 15 July 2016, either by returning a completed Direct Debit Instruction form by post,
Residents who already pay their council tax by Direct Debit will automatically be entered into the prize draw.
Councillor David Edgar, Cabinet Member for Resources said: “This is a initiative helps both the council and our residents. £10,000 could make such a difference to a resident’s life.
“Direct Debit is a simple, safe and secure means of payment which is also more convenient for residents than other payment methods. It is also a much cheaper way for us to process payments and the money we save can be used for the benefit of all local residents.”
