Sylhet Districts celebrate Red Crescent Day-2016

3World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day-2016 was celebrated in the Sylhet district the globe on Sunday with a call to increase the services for the distressed and affected people during disasters.

This year’s theme of the day was ‘Everywhere for Everyone’.

Marking the day, Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS), Sylhet unit chalked out the elaborate programmes.

In the morning, a colourful rally led by SCC Chief excutive Anamul Habib was brought out from in front of the unit office and ended at the same venue after parading the main roads of the town.

Later, a discussion meeting was also held at the auditorium of matremangal Hospital of the City here withMonsurujjaman chawdhury , vice president of BDRCS, district unit, in the chair.

SCC Chief excutive Anamul Habib addressed the meeting as the chief guest and Assistant Commissioner (land)Suhel mahmud were present at the event as the special guests.

SCC Chief excutive Anamul Habib in her speeches said the society as become the largest humanitarian organisation of the world since its launch in 1863 by young Swiss businessman, Jean Henry Dunant.The contribution of Red Cross and Red Crescent Society is undeniable in its areas of services for welfare of the people across the country.
