Khilkhil, Salauddin present diverse Nazrul songs, poems

National Poet KaziNazrul Islam’s granddaughter KhilkhilKazi and noted Nazrul singer Salauddin Ahmed presented Nazrul songs and poems of different tastes at a tribute programme organised by Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre on Friday.
The singers presented romantic songs, Bangla ghazals and shyama songs composed by Nazrul. Khilkhil also presented Nazrul’s rebellious and humanitarian poems and shared her grandfather’s life and struggles from her personal account.
The show was organised marking the national poet’s 117th birth anniversary, which was observed on May 25.
IGCC organised a similar programme on May 20 where Nazrul’s another granddaughter AninditaKazi presented songs and recalled Nazrul.
Salauddin first took the stage and rendered GagoneySaghanoChamikichheDamini with his stentorian voice modulation.
Subsequently, KhikhilKazi rendered PathikBandhuEsoEsoPapriChhawa Path Beye with her soulful voice modulation.
‘Though Nazrul is commonly labeled as a rebel or humanitarian poet, he composed diverse songs featuring different emotions. He wrote and composed profusely songs of various genres- love, devotion, gazhal, shyama, baulangik and others’, said KhilkhilKazi.
And then, Salauddin rendered famous Nazrul song BhuliKemone while Khilkhil presented PiyaGechhe Kobe Pardesh.
From the spell of love, KhilkhilKazi took audience to the world of Nazrul’s poetry. She recited the most famous and most representative Bidrohi and Samyabadi.
Salauddin added variation by rendering a Shaymasangeet- DekheJareRudrani Ma.
The show that was organised in a rainy evening got perfection as Salauddin presented two Nzrul songs based on monsoon titled ShaonAsiloPhire and MeghMaduroGagone.
