AL men involved in target killings: Khaleda

vvThe Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chairperson, Khaleda Zia, alleged on Wednesday ruling Awami League (AL) people are involved in the ongoing ‘target killings’.

“Target killing are being carried out in a planned manner and AL people are involved in it. That’s why the perpetrators are not being detained,” alleged Khaleda while addressing an iftar session in the capital.

The Jatiya Party (Kazi Jafar), a component of the BNP-led 20-party alliance, organised the iftar programme at the Ladies Club in Eskaton of the city.

Also former prime minister, Khaleda, cast doubt whether Bangladesh’s sovereignty is breached saying, “A question has arisen whether AL is ruling the country or there is another power behind it.”

The 20-party alliance leader said Bangladesh never witnessed ‘target killings’ in the past.

“People from all religions–Muslim, Hindu and Buddhist–are being killed. This is premeditated. AL people are involved in it. And that is why Sheikh Hasina said she knows who are involved in it and is not arresting anyone. Rather, common people are now being arrested after sending many of them [perpetrators] abroad,” she alleged.

Khaleda Zia called on all to forge a greater unity to “free the people and restore democracy in the country.”
