Bangladesh’s Finance Minister Abul Al Abdul Muhith and former ambassador, economist Prof Dr A K Abdul Momen recently came to London on a short visit.
While in London Syed Shah Salim Ahmed, Citygates Accountant’s Rashed Ahmed & photographer Ali Reza Khan of London Times, a new generation newspaper soon to be published met up with the two guests to inform them of this new initiative.
London Times is to be published from Britain in Bengali & English. In addition London Times News Charity will raise funds to help talented journalists and provide charitable assistance. At the same time London Times will cater for the community under the banner One Platform Vision. The Finance Minister agreed to be a patron of the newspaper. Dr A K Momen also agreed to be a patron.
The Finance Minister said, ‘I am pleased to hear of a publication from London to act as mouthpiece of expat Bengalis. I hope the newspaper will highlight the achievements and development of Bangladesh.’ He also added that hopefully Syed Shah Salim Ahmed will be successful in his new endeavour as he has done in past.
Dr A K Abdul Momen said, ‘I want a newspaper that will provide factually correct news, maintain certain standard and enage with public which I believe London Times will be able to achieve’.
Britain’s former Education Secretary Nicky Morgan MP has also agreed to be a patron of London Times. In a message to London Times she hoped thatthe new publication will emphasise on community news and act as a bridge between the Bengali and the indigenous community.
In addition, another influential Conservative MP Paul Skully as a patron of London Times hoped that the paper will encourage the Bengali community,while retaining their heritage, to engage with mainstream.
London Times News is registered as a company 10040853 in England & Wales. The paper will be launched online in March this year which will be followed by English version.
