Comilla mayor faces arrest warrant for ‘graft’

A Dhaka Court on Tuesday issued a warrant for arrest of newly elected Comilla city mayor

Monirul Haque Sakku, also a Bangladesh Nationalist Party leader,  in a corruption case filed by

Anti Corruption Commission.

The court also ordered to seize his wealth.

Judge Kamrul Hossain Molla of Metropolitan Sessions Judges Court passed the order Tuesday

morning after taking cognisance of charge sheet submitted against Sakku by the commission.

The commission filed the case with Raman police station earlier on January 7 of 2008 for his

alleged involvement in amassing Tk 4.57 crore and concealing wealth statement of Tk 1.12

crore.

Commission's assistant director Nurul Huda pressed charge sheet against the mayor on

February 4 in 2016.
