Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday said they are always ready to participate in 11th parliament election under an ‘election-conducive’ government claiming that they have at least three candidates for each of the parliamentary constituencies.
He said Awami League designed a ‘blueprint’ to forcibly cling to power to protect ‘illegally’ amassed wealth.
Talking to reporters on the premises of grave of late president Ziaur Rahman, Fakhrul said BNP is an election-oriented political party and believes in election.
‘We are always ready for election if there is an election-supportive government and election field is prepared. We have 900 candidates for the election,’ he said.
As Awami League is sensing that they are isolating from people, they begin contracting democratic space and to perpetuate one-party rule, he said.
Earlier, Fakhrul along with leaders and activists of Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal, labour of wing of BNP, placed wreaths and said prayers at the graveside of Zia, founder of BNP, at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital to mark Sramik Dal’s 38th founding anniversary.
Asked about Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader’s remarks made on Monday that BNP was dreaming of making ‘Khawa Bhaban’ , the BNP secretary general said the AL general secretary himself stated that they (AL men) would have to flee the country to protect their illegal income they earned if they fail to stay in power.
Fakhrul said people would hold trial of Awami League for it has done for the country and what extent they had committed corruption.
