Seasoned actor Nazmul Huda Bachchu died on Wednesday morning at Dhaka’s Square Hospital after suffering cardiac problem. He was 78.
He was admitted to the hospital due to low pressure and fever on Monday as he was down with fever two days before Eid after returning from a shooting, his family members said.
Heart problems were detected following tests on Tuesday, they said.
Born in 1938 in Dhaka, Nazmul Huda Bachchu in his illustrious career spanning over four decades acted in diverse characters in films such as Oggatonama (2016), Runway (2010), Chandra Grahan (2008), Daktar Bari (2007), Bidrohi Padma (2006), Chandra Katha (2003), Chitra Nodir Pare (1998), Srabon Megher Din (1999), Shongkhoneel Karagar (1992), Surjo Dighol Bari (1979), Alongkar (1978), Sareng Bou (1978) and Behula Lakhinder (1977).
He used to act in teleplays and drama series.
He won the National Film Award and various other prestigious prizes for his work.
Actors, directors and technical crew members mourned death of the seasoned actor. Bangladesh Television Dramatists and Playwrights Association President Syed Hasan Imam said, ‘He was a dedicated actor with sound knowledge of his task. He was truly versatile’.
Bangladesh Film Actors Association president Misha Sawdagor and Bangladesh Film Directors’ Association president Mushfiqur Rahman Guljar paying tribute to the late actor said that Nazmul Huda Bacchu had remarkable contributions to the country’s film industry
Funeral prayer for the actor was held at Gulshan’s Azad Mosque after Zuhr prayer on Wednesday. Bachchu was buried next to his father at the Banani graveyard.
He left behind a widow and three daughters.
