Commission warns that Rohingyas may not be voters: CEC

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda said that the Election Commission has been alerted so that the new Rohingya people who are entering the country due to ongoing violence in Myanmar can not be included in the electoral roll.

The CEC said this at an exchange meeting organized at Tangail’s Deputy Commissioner’s conference room on Wednesday.

The meeting was organized on September 24 to mark the general, suspended and by-election of the Zilla Parishad, Upazila Parishad and Union Parishad.

Referring to the Rohingyas, the CEC said, “There is a discussion on whether the new Rohingyas will be biometric, so that the election office may be involved.”

Apart from this, our special committees are monitoring the 30 upazilas where there is a Rohingya or their involvement. ‘ KM Nurul Huda said, “Different political parties will formally meet us and will participate in the elections.

Even the BNP has officially announced to participate in the elections. Their political activities also say they will take part in the elections. Nobody said that he will not participate in the elections.

Regarding the deployment of army in the upcoming parliamentary elections, she said, “Most political parties have demanded deployment of the army.

However, it was not possible to discuss the matter with all the parties. When discussions with all the parties, they will know how they are deployed in any manner.

In addition, the CEC and the Election Commissioners held closed-door meetings with different district and upazila and regional election officials in the next election process.

In the chairmanship of EC Secretary Helaluddin, Tangail Deputy Commissioner Khan Mohammad spoke among others. Nurul Amin and Superintendent of Police Mahbub Alam said.
