Deepika given special security ahead of Padmavati release

Deepika Padukone has been given special security after Karni Sena, a Rajput group, started violent protest and threatening her for film ‘Padmavati’.

According to news agency PTI, former Union Minister Shashi Tharoor took a jive at the revolting Rajasthan Royals on the Padmavati issue.

He claimed the “so called valourous maharajas” had scurried to accomodate themselves when the British “trampled” over their honour and were now after a filmmaker claiming prestige was at stake.

The protest surged as Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus nears its release. Its production stage, sets and elaborate art installations were vandalised by the Karni Sena, a Rajput group.

The Rajasthan royalty have also written to the Prime Minister on grounds that the movie is layered with factual inaccuracies and that they should first see and ratify the film before its out.

He further said that he has not watched the film yet and that it will follow all “due process at CBFC”.
