2 BCL activists stabbed dead in Moulvibazar

Two activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) were stabbed to death at Moulvibazar Govt High School ground in Moulvibazar on Thursday evening.

BCL is the student wing of ruling Bangladesh Awami League (AL).

The deceased were identified as Mohammad Ali Sahabab, 18, an honours 2nd year student of Moulvibazar Govt College and son of Abu Bakar Siddiqui of Old Hospital area in the town, and Nahid Ahmed Mahi, 16, a Class-XI student of Moulvibazar Govt High School and son of Billal Miah of Durlavpur village in Sadar upazila.

Locals said the duo was the followers of district BCL general secretary-led group.

Witnesses at the school gate saw them being taken to Sadar Hospital in a pool of blood in a three-wheeler. They were declared dead at the hospital.

Superintendent of police of the district Mohammad Shahjalal said the incident took place in a secluded place of the ground in darkness.

The incident might have happened over an instant quarrel, he said, adding that they were investigating it.
