Rainfall may increase in next 72hrsDhaka, Aug 21 : People all over the country are likely to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha on Wednesday in pouring rains.

“Rainfall activity may increase in next 72 hours,” said the Met office on Tuesday.

Light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Dhaka, Mymensingh, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Khulna, Barishal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country, the Met office said.

The low over northwest Bay off Odisha coast now lies over Chhattisgarh and adjoining area. The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, the centre of the low, thence northeastwards to Assam across Odisha, Gengetic west Bengal and sourthern part of Bangladesh. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay.

Squally weather is likely over the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of the country, the met office added.

Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to lower signal, it said.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to proceed with caution till Evening Tuesday.
