KHULNA: Awami League candidate Abdus Salam Murshedy has been elected as Member of Parliament (MP) uncontested from Bagerhat-3 constituency as there was no other contender for the by-election to the constituency.

The election commission officially announced him MP on Tuesday afternoon (September 4).

According to rules, a gazette notification will be published announcing him as winner in the Khulna-4 by polls. Later, he will be sworn in.

Murshedi submitted the nomination paper to Md Yunus Ali, returning officer and also election officer of Khulna divisional regional election office, on August 26. The by-election to Khulna-4 comprising of Rupsa, Terokhada, and Dighalia, was scheduled to be held on September 20.
