Over 100 injured in villagers’ clash in Sylhet

Sylhet Office : More than 100 people including a policeman were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over a trifling matter at Horipur village in Jaintiapur upazila of Sylhet on Wednesday afternoon.

Locals said Yakub Ali, teacher of Jubo Unnayan Odhidoptor, gave a speech centering two students in a farewell function at Haripur Bahumukhi High School.

Hearing the provoking speech of the teacher, the two groups of villagers locked into a clash, leaving 100 over injured, they added.

On information, police rushed in and brought the situation under control, Md Mainul Islam Jakir, officer-in-charge of Jaintiapur Police Station.
