 Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan MP attends the 25th Assembly of the IMSO on 11 October 2018

Hon’ble Shipping Minister of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh  Shajahan Khan, MP attended the session of the 25th assembly of the International Mobile Satellite Organization (IMSO) at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Headquarters in London. During the morning session on different important agenda like Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS), contract and reappointment of the Director General of IMSO, he intervened. Later in the afternoon, the first ever Bangladeshi Director General of IMSO, Captain Moin Ahmed has been reelected as the Director General of IMSO for the next phase. He first took charge of the office in April 2015 elected with overwhelming majority. The Hon’ble Shipping Minister delivered his speech after this reelction process. H.E. the High Commissioner of Bangladesh in London, Mr. Md. Nazmul Quaunine was also present at the session.

The International Mobile Satellite Organization (IMSO) is the inter-governmental organization whose primary purpose is the oversight of certain public satellite safety and security communication services provided by mobie satellite communication systems. They also act as the International Long Range Identification Tracking of Ships Coordinator worldwide. Bangladesh has been an active member of IMSO for the last few years.

Later in the afternoon after the assembly sesison and the joyous occasion of the reelection of Captain Moin Ahmed as the IMSO Director General, the Hon’ble Shipping Minister attended a Press Conference at the Bangladesh High Commission in London.
