Worker dies in Sylhet stone quarry

Sylhet Office : A stone worker was killed and two others were injured as a hill collapsed while extracting stones at Shah Arefin Tila in Companiganj upazila on Sunday afternoon.

The identity of the deceased was not available immediately.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Bijen Banarjee said a chunk of mud collapsed on the three workers around 4pm while they were extracting stones, killing one of them on the spot.

Police recovered the body in the evening, he said, adding that the stone quarry owner went into hiding after the incident.
