Three people were killed as a truck hit a pick-up van on Bangabandhu West Bridge connecting highway in Kamarkhanda upazila of Sirajganj on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Idris Ali, 60, Monju Hossain, 28, and pickup van driver Raju Hossain, 27, all hailing from Tangail district.
The accident occurred on Jhaoil overbridge near Dhaka-Rajshahi highway on the west side of Bangabandhu Bridge around 3:15am on Saturday.
“The pickup van bearing some goods and passengers, on its way to Tangail, lost its control near the Jhaoil overbridge, and crashed into the rear of a truck, leaving Idris, his son Monju and the driver Raju dead on spot,” said Sub-Inspector Mahbubur Rahman of Bangabandhu Bridge west police station.
On information, Fire Service and Civil Defence members went to the spot and recovered the bodies.
Traffic movement was halted on the road for around two hours after the accident.
