Gazette of 9th wage board award to be published soon: Hasan

The Information Minister gave the assurance when a delegation of Bangladesh Federal Union of Newspaper Press Workers and Bangladesh Newspaper Workers Federation met him at his Secretariat office.

Emerging from the meeting, Secretary General of Bangladesh Federal Union of Newspaper Press Workers Kamal Uddin said the information minister has informed them that the convenor of the 9th Wage Board award recommendations review committee and also the Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader is returning home today.“Hopefully, it will be possible to publish the gazette of the 9th wage board soon.” he added.

During the meeting, the leaders placed a 10-point demand before the Information Minister including publishing the gazette of the 9th wage board award, forming welfare trust for the press workers, and enactment of the Media Employees Act.

Dr Hasan Mahmud gave them a patient hearing and assured them of addressing their demands in consultation with the Prime Minister.

Bangladesh Federal Union of Newspaper Press Workers President Alamgir Hossain Khan, its Secretary General Kamal Uddin, Bangladesh Newspaper Workers Federation President Matiur Rahman Talukder and Secretary General Khairul Islam, among others, were present.
