Huge Indian tea leaf seized in Habiganj

Habiganj Correspondent : Members of Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) seized 1,400 kg tea leaf illegally imported from India through Chunarughat bordering area of Habiganj.

BGB 55 Battalion Commander Lt Col M Jahidur Rashid confirmed the matter to Banglanews Monday (June 10) noon.

On tip-off, BGB Nayek Subedar Mirza Rashed led a drive and seized the tea leaves from Satchhari Tea Garden-5 at early hours in the morning.

Market price of the leaves is estimated at around Tk 4.5 lakh. Besides, 30 bottles phensedyl were also seized, said Rashid.

None was detained, in this regard.

Separate cases were filed over the seizures, added Rashid.
