Doctors not visiting Khaleda Zia for last 14 days: Rizvi

“BNP chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia is critically sick. She has been shifted to the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) from jail. The government is showing cruel behaviour towards her illness. They have taken away her right to get better treatment. It has been 14 days since doctors visited her last,” he said.

Rizvi made the claims at a press conference at BNP’s central office in the capital’s Nayapaltan area this morning.“The medical board, comprising of rheumatologists and formed by the BSMMU vice-chancellor, has not provided any updates of Khaleda Zia’s health condition to her family members since its formation in last week. Deshnetri Khaleda Zia is not getting sound sleep at night due to severe pain. Her health condition has deteriorated compared to the previous,” he claimed.

He also alleged that a conspiracy is underway to kill Khaleda Zia without giving proper treatment.

The BNP chairperson has been in jail since a special court convicted her in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case on February 8 last year.

Amid BNP leaders’ demand for admitting Khaleda to a specialised hospital, she was shifted to the BSMMU from jail on April 1 as her health condition deteriorated and she was kept at the hospital since then.
