The decision was made in a meeting between Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmed and Malaysian Human Resource Minister M. Kulasegaran in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.
In the meeting, the two ministers discussed recruitment of Bangladeshi labourers in Malaysia at minimum migration cost, the extent of involvement of recruiting agencies in both countries, the requisite medical tests, social and economic security of the migrants and data sharing.
The ministers particularly agreed on recruiting Bangladeshi labourers at minimum migration cost and undergoing a single medical test before departing the country to mitigate harassment.
The demands of Bangladeshi workers in Malaysia was mentioned in the meeting.
The Bangladesh delegation includes Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Secretary Md Selim Reza, Bangladesh Hi-commissioner in Malaysia Md Shahidul Islam, Additional Secretary of the ministry Dr Ahmed Manirus Salehin, Joint Secretary Fazlul Karim, and others.
On the other hand, Human Resource Secretary Amir Bin Omar and Deputy Secretary Koya Abun, among others, were part of the Malaysian delegation.
