Sunamganj Correspondent : A suspected robber was killed in a reported gunfight with police in Bokarbhanga area in Chhatak upazila on early Monday.
The deceased was identified as Md Lakkhandor Ali, 30, son of md Kalamddar Ali of Jiapur village. He was wanted in 12 robbery cases.
Md Mostafa Kamal, officer-in-charge of Chhatak Police Station, said police arrested Lakkhandor on Sunday night.
Police took him to Bokarbhanga area on early Monday to recover firearms but he tried to flee. A gunfight ensued when his associates opened fire, the OC said.
Later, police recovered the body of Lakkhandor and sent it to Zila Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
“Five policemen were severely injured in the skirmish,” the OC added.
