Gas extraction begins in 4 Bibiana wells

Habiganj Correspondent : extraction has started from four out of six disrupted wells of Habiganj’s Bibiyana Gas Field.

Engineers are working to resume the rest two wells.

Communications manager at Chevron Bangladesh Sheikh Zahidur Rahman said, “Gas extraction continues from the four active wells. Experienced engineers are working to activate the remaining two wells.”

It may possible to resume the 5 no well by Thursday, he added.

Gas crisis hit the country since the first day of Ramadan (April 3) after six wells of the Bibiana gas field stopped working as dirt accumulated in the pipelines.

Residents of Mirpur, Pallabi, Lalmatia, Shahjahanpur, Mohammadpur, Tejturi Bazar, Razabazar and Dhanmondi complained of severe gas shortage since first Ramadan.
