Death toll from two buses collision rises to 7

The death toll from a collision between two buses at Baraigram upazila in Natore district rose to seven.

Two of the deceased were identified as Kawsar Ali, 16, and his sister Sadia, 12.

Superintendent of Bogura Highway Police Munshi Shahab Uddin said the accident occurred around 11.15 am on the Bonpara-Hatikumrul highway beside Patwari Filling Station when a Rajshahi-bound ‘National Travel Paribahan’ bus collided head on with a Dhaka-bound ‘Siam Paribahan’ bus coming from the opposite direction.

The accident left six people dead, four were the passengers of the National Travel Paribahan and two were of Siam Paribahan, on the spot and 15 others injured.

The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals and clinics. “Of the injured, a woman succumbed to her injuries at a clinic in the Banpara area.”
