Stranded 21 DU students rescued by army from Sunamganj

Twenty-one students of Dhaka University out of 100 students, who got stranded in the Surma River after their launch broke down, reached Chhatak Bazar ghat at 4:30 am from Sunamganj on Sunday.

They are now safe, said one of the victim student.

On June 14, 19 students of Dhaka University’s Mass Communication and Journalism among 21 went to Sunamganj to visit Tangua Haor. Of them, seven were female students. They got stuck in the middle of the river.

The stranded passengers called the National Emergency Service 999 and sought help from the local administration.

Members of Bangladesh Army rescued the victim students early hours. They are being brought to Sylhet, the Inter-Service Public Relations Directorate said in a statement on Sunday.
