An international seminar on ‘Integrated Delta Governance and Ocean Management in the Bay of Bengal- Way Ahead’ was held by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University (BSMRMU) at International Mother Language Institute in Dhaka on Sunday.
Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni was present as the chief guest while the university vice-chancellor Rear Admiral M Khaled Iqbal (retd) was in the chair.
In her speech, the chief guest emphasized maritime research and education for implementation of Prime Minister’s Delta Plan and hoped that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University will play a vital role in the process.
During the event, BSMRMU signed two separate MoU on academic collaboration with Gujarat National Law University and National Maritime Foundation, India.
High commissioner of India to Bangladesh H E Vikram K Doraiswami attended the programme as the special guest while secretary of Maritime Affairs Unit, MoFA, Rear Admiral Md Khurshed Alam (retd), Prof S Shanthakumar from Gujarat National Law University, vice admiral Pradeep Chauhan (retd) from National Maritime Foundation of India, Bangladesh Centre for Advance Studies executive director Dr Atiq Rahman, Dr Mohammad Rezaur Rahman from BUET and Dr Mohammad Nazir Hossain from BSMRMU, among others, were present at the event.
