Moulvibazar tea workers join works today

Moulvibazar Correspondent : Moulvibazar tea garden workers back to their work on Monday accepting the new daily wage of Tk 170 fixed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Fulchhora tea garden worker’s head Narayan Bakti said, “The workers resumed their work today full fledgedly. Sunday was their weekly holiday. So that, they could not join work yesterday. They all are happy with their new wage of Tk 170. But only demand is to pay same wage to the casual workers.”

The tea worker in Kalighat, Phulchara, and Satgaon, of Srimangal upazila were seen joining work in groups from 8am.

Worker Polly Kurmi said, “I joined work today first after 19-day of protest as permitted by our bosses.

Nripen Pal, general secretary of the central committee of the Bangladesh Tea Workers Union, said: “The majority of the workers back to their work today. They expressed satisfaction to the Prime Minister. All the permanent and casual workers will get the same wage. Now it depends on the owners on how much they will pay.”
