Sanjidas to be welcomed on open-top bus

Bangladesh have achieved the honour of becoming the champions for the first time in SAFF Women’s Championship. Football fans of the country are raptured with such an achievement.

Meanwhile, The footballers will be welcomed by an open-top bus from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) building for winning the trophy in the fight for South Asian football excellence for the country, said State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russel.

The girls have become the champion remain undefeated. Before facing Nepal in the final, a Facebook status of Bangladesh midfielder Sanjida Akhter began to spread on the social media.

There she wrote, “We don’t even want to stand with the trophy on the open-top champion bus. We just want to win this for those people who have helped us to touch the green grass, leaving aside the society’s bad comments. This success may help us to get some new Sabina, Krishna and Maria.”

Now, the state minister is arranging an open-top bus for the team to remove Sanjida’s regret. While talking to the media he said, “The results and success that the women’s team has brought for us is unforgettable. It is a very proud day for the country. They brought the glory of being undefeated champions for Bangladesh.”

Russell said, “Our footballer Sanjida lamented that they might not be welcomed on an open-top bus. But still they want to win the title for the country. Seeing her regret, our hearts hurt. Despite there is no open-top bus in our country, we have still made an arrangement for them. We will welcome the team from the airport to BFF building. I want to fulfill their hopes.”

Captain Sabina and co will land in Dhaka from Nepal on a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines at 12:50 pm on Wednesday (September 21), BFF authority said in a statement.

In European football, footballers celebrate on an open-top bus when a country or team wins a trophy. In recent time, Sri Lanka was being seen celebrating their victory with fans in such a way after winning Asia Cup.
