BNP will hold rally at Nayapaltan, not Suhrawardy Udyan: Mosharraf

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) standing committee member Khandkar Mosharraf Hossain has said they will hold their rally at Nayapaltan in the capital but not at Suhrawardy Udyan.

He said, “BNP’s Dhaka divisional rally will be held on December 10 at Nayapaltan in the capital. Finally, they would give nod to hold rally at Nayapaltan as they already give nod to hold rally at Suhrawardy Udyan, instead of Purbachal.”

The BNP standing committee member made the remarks on Friday morning while addressing at a press conference in Cumilla city ahead of the party’s divisional rally scheduled to be held there on Saturday.

Earlier, on Thursday, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan in a programme in Dhaka said the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will be allowed to hold rally at Suhrawardy Udyan, instead of Nayapaltan in the capital on conditions.

People will show their red cards to the government from Cumilla rally, said Khandkar Mosharraf adding that “It is not possible to suppress the people of Cumilla, overall mass people of Bangladesh by the threats of enforced disappearance and murder. People do not want this government anymore. The best proof of that is Sheikh Hasina herself.”

Pointing at Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s speech at Jashore rally, the BNP leader said, “In Jashore, she (Hasina) said that she doesn’t understand why people want looter BNP, its convicted leader and her son, who is absconding, in power. Her remarks indicate that she has understood that the government has no time.”

“We will show this illegal, fascist government red card from tomorrow’s rally,” said Khandkar Mosharraf.

BNP Relief and Rehabilitation Secretary Haji Aminur Rashid Yasin, organizing secretary (Cumilla division) Mostak Miah, Cumilla BNP convenor Utbatul Bari Abu and joint convener Yusuf Molla Tipu were present at that time.
