Professor Dr Md Imdadul Haque, vice-chancellor of Jagannath University (JnU), passed away at a hospital in the capital early Saturday.
He breathed his last at 5am at BRB Hospital, said the university’s Bangla Department Chairman Prof Dr Milton Bishwas.
Imdadul Haque was a cancer patient. He went to Singapore on September 12 for better treatment and came back home on October 12. After that, he was receiving treatment at the BRB Hospital.
He left behind a daughter and a host of relatives and well-wisher to mourn his death.
Prof Imdadul Haque had been serving as the vice chancellor of Jagannath University since June 1, 2021.
His body was taken to the university and teachers, students, officials and employees paid their last respects to the professor.
